UNDP in Malaysia has been UPDATED!!!

Finally, UNDP in Malaysia is being updated. It has been no update from this site for the last 2 years and last week, there is some changes and update.

So happy to see this changes.

Election II

Another NGO that I am involved in is going to have our election in next year as well. This organization is only a clan organization.

As a new member of the organization, I am looking forward for a lot of changes in the youth wing. The youth wings seems to be very dependent on the mother organization. When it comes to organizing activities, the youth wings seems not involving. Every time we have functions, those who attend are only a few same faces.

When we had our Mid-Term, what makes me feel weird is that no members actually turn up. A few committee members actually blame this on a weak leadership in Youth Wing. I really hope that next year's AGM will not be so embarrassing for all the committee members, as the election is in next year.

Looking forward for another round of campaigning.

Elections

In any organization, as long as there are committee to serve the organization, there will be election. This is only true for organization which is base on democratic ideology.

This year, it seems to have a lot of elections around the world. First, we have Taiwan, then Malaysia, Japan, and the United States. Other than that, a lot of political parties in my country also have their own election. And the NGO that I belonged to has our own election every year! The reason is to elect a new leader, and to give the opportunity to another person to serve as leader.

Many friends of mine could not understand this. They were questioning why change leader if the leadership is strong. The leader can move the organization to a greater heights. I disagree with this argument and responded with the objective of the my beloved organization. It was designed to provide a platform for young leader to practice their leadership skills and be trained as a better person and leader.

This year's election has a lot of changes in political scenario around the world. Taiwan's changing power from Min Jin Dang back to Guo Min Dang, Malaysia's ruling party BN losing their 2/3 ground to only simple majority, and US President Elect Barack Obama is a Democrat.

During the elections, what really excited me was the campaigns. Some ethical candidates really campaign with ethique and most are not. Taiwan's election most of the time is about critizing each other in their public speech, and also campaign. Malaysian is not far from Taiwan, also using public media to attack the opposition parties. Worst thing is that the Malaysian ruling party is controling most of the media in the country. Whereby, US's election is the most interesting one for this year. The whole world is watching!!!

Barack Obama's winning as the President Elect of United States for the next term is a hope for most of the people. The hope of changes, the hope of eliminating racial politic, and the hope of getting good leader to be in leadership. "Change we can believe in".

I am looking forward for a good leadership in my NGO's next year line up.

My life Start with NGO's Life

My life started with my involvements in NGO's day.

Since secondary school days, my co-curriculum activities never stopped. First, I was involved in "Kadet Bomba" (Fireman Cadet), I joined Chinese Orchestra, then I joined the Environmental Club (Kelab Alam Sekitar - not sure if it still exist in my secondary school nowadays?) as the founding member. Each of the organization I joined, I learned something out of it. Kadet Bomba is about disciplines, obedient to higher rank officer and seniors, and protocols. Chinese Orchestra is about team work, leadership, PR and salesmanship. For Environmental Club, since I was one of the founding member, we had the privilege to do fund raising for the club. (That time we call ourselves Naturalist)

Leaving school, I went to college, and my co-curriculum activities were cut down. However, I was still active in Chinese Cultural Society, registered my name with the Buddhisms Society (but never active), and was a founding member of Circle K.

When I graduated from college, it seems I can't dissociate myself from being active in all these clubs, societies, and associations activities. While working, I got myself involved in JCI movements, and a lot of my skills get to be polished again. And now I am also part of my Hainanese Association Youth wing member.

I enjoy doing all these works although I don't get paid. My bosses even comment, if you want to do this kind of "Charity work", you should take 1 whole month leaves and do it. Make One of my close friend always said me busy for nothing. I don't agree with all these statements, I have my reasons why I keep involving in such activities. There are causes I believed in and I want to serve it. Besides, I am gaining something that is not measurable with dollar sign. What says you? Give me feedback, tell me whether I should continue to serve my causes, or I should forget about mankind, but focus on earning my money and building my $$$ empire.
